Hello, art lovers! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where I share the stories behind my creations. Last time, I invited you into my cozy workspace, filled with relaxing music, the hum of my Mac, and the soft purrs of my cat curled up nearby. Today, I’m thrilled to take you on a journey through my Monday to Friday collection—a set of five whimsical, surreal art pieces that capture the quirky chaos of a week through the eyes of some very peculiar creatures. If you love art that’s equal parts cute, comical, and thought-provoking, this collection is for you. Let’s dive into how these five pieces came to life and the wild, imaginative world that inspired them!

Another day in hell

The Spark: A Week of Surreal Stories

The idea for the Monday to Friday collection hit me one rainy afternoon in my studio. I was sketching on my trusty drawpad, soft lo-fi beats playing in the background, and my cat, Whiskers, napping on a pile of sketchbooks. I started doodling little creatures—blobby, spiky, tentacled beings with big personalities—and I couldn’t stop laughing at their oddball thoughts. What if each day of the week had its own island, populated by creatures who saw the world in their own absurd, delightful way? That’s when I knew I had to create a series that brought this surreal week to life.

Each piece in the collection represents a snapshot of a fantastical island—Monday, Tuesday, and Friday—where creatures live in their own quirky realities, complete with bizarre thoughts and prophecies. I wanted these artworks to feel like little windows into a dreamworld, where every creature has a story and a personality that makes you smile. Let’s meet the stars of the collection and see how they came to be.

Monday: The Grumpy Island of Glorp and Thrix

The first piece, Monday, is all about that universal “ugh, it’s Monday” feeling—but with a twist! Picture a desolate island under a swirling, surreal sky. At the center is Glorp, a drooling, multi-eyed blob who floats above the cracked earth, grumbling, “I hate Mondays!” Below, a spiky little creature named Thrix shuffles through sticky puddles, muttering, “Why is the floor wet?” I sketched Glorp first, inspired by the idea of a creature who’s all drama and no action. Thrix came next, a prickly but lovable complainer who just can’t catch a break.

As I worked on this piece, my cat kept batting at my stylus, as if to say, “Make them sillier!” So, I added an ancient rock sentinel whispering a cryptic prophecy: “They’ll come back on Wednesday.” That hint of mystery ties the whole collection together. I used bold, moody colors on my drawpad to capture Monday’s chaotic energy, with splashes of neon to keep it playful. You can check out Monday in my shop and see if Glorp’s grumpiness makes you chuckle!

Aren't Monday's the worst?

Tuesday: The Whimsical Valley of Oozar and Squish

By the time I got to Tuesday, I wanted to shift gears to something lighter and more whimsical. This piece takes us to a jagged cliff where Oozar, a one-eyed beast, perches nervously, thinking, “That rock looked at me again!” Down in the valley, a pink, tentacled creature named Squish floats over domed huts, giggling, “It’s Thursday forever down here!” I loved sketching Squish’s carefree vibe—it’s like she’s living in her own little dreamworld, oblivious to the week’s chaos.

The Tuesday piece came together during a cozy evening in my studio, with soft jazz playing and a warm cup of tea by my side. I used my Mac to layer vibrant textures, giving the island a dreamy, almost storybook feel. My favorite moment was adding Pip, a tiny critter who wonders, “What if I’m just someone else’s doodle?” That line captures the existential humor I love infusing into my art. Take a peek at Tuesday in my collection and let Squish’s silliness brighten your day!

Friday: The Colorful Chaos of Drippus and Blorp

The final piece, Friday, is a riot of color and confusion—perfect for the end of the week. A towering, dripping creature named Drippus stands guard, thinking, “The drawing… it watches back!” Below, a purple jelly-like Blorp wails, “This isn’t the moon I ordered!” while Spyk, another oddball, ponders, “Why’s the lake spicy?” This piece is my favorite because it’s pure, unfiltered chaos—like a Friday where everything’s gone wonderfully weird.

I sketched Friday on a sunny morning, with my cat sprawled across my desk, occasionally swiping at my screen. The vibrant colors and wild shapes came straight from my imagination, fueled by upbeat acoustic tunes. I used my drawpad to create dripping, fluid textures that make Drippus feel alive. The prophecy from Monday echoes here, hinting at a mysterious return on Wednesday, which adds a layer of intrigue. You can explore Friday in my shop and see if you spot Spyk’s spicy lake!

The gooey gathering is here!

Bringing It All Together

Creating the Monday to Friday collection was a joy because it let me play with humor, heart, and a touch of the absurd. Each piece started as a quick sketch on my drawpad, fueled by relaxing music and my cat’s quiet companionship. From there, I used my Mac to refine the colors and textures, making sure every creature felt alive and full of personality. The result is a collection that’s cute, comical, and a little surreal—just like the stories in my head.

I hope you love these quirky creatures as much as I do. If you’re curious to bring Glorp, Squish, or Drippus into your home, check out the full Monday to Friday collection in my shop.
